College football has officially returned and with it the USA Today Coaches Poll Top 25 rankings after Week 1 have been released.

The past few days have seen a plethora of fascinating games take place. From Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes outlasting North Dakota State to Georgia and Notre Dame picking up huge wins in Week 1, there was something for everyone in the sport’s big homecoming.

As we’ve learned over time, the Coaches Poll Top 25 changes throughout the season, but here are our standings after Week 1. Check out the Top 25 below and see where your favorite team ranks.

Georgia showed why they are the top-ranked team in the country in Week 1. Under the bright lights of Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, the Bulldogs devastated Clemson, defeating the Tigers 34-3.

Quarterback Carson Beck picked up where he left off in 2023. He’s garnering a ton of attention as one of the top quarterbacks available in the 2025 NFL Draft, and his 278-yard, two-touchdown performance on Saturday will help him do just that.

Ohio State may have trailed Akron by three points, but they turned things around after a slow start against the Zips, eventually coming out of Week 1 with a 52-6 victory.

It was the first game for quarterback Will Howardafter committing to Ohio State following some success with Kansas State. He threw for 228 yards and three touchdowns, and he’ll look to work out any kinks in Ohio State’s Week 2 clash with Western Michigan.

Texas took no prisoners in their first game as a member of the SEC. The Longhorns defeated Colorado State in Week 1, sending the Rams home with a 52-0 score. Hey, at least they got a trip to one of college football’s most prestigious venues.

Now the real fun begins for Steve Sarkisian’s team. Texas travels to Ann Arbor to take on the reigning, reigning champions of the college football world in Michigan in Week 2.

The debut of Kalen DeBoer as Alabama’s leader went about as well as it could. With Nick Saban watching from the sidelines after his retirement and move to ESPN, the Crimson Tide picked up where they left off under the legendary coach, beating Western Kentucky 63-0.

Over the next two weeks, Alabama will face USF and Wisconsin. It promises to be an interesting matchup, but the real drama will begin in Week 4, when DeBoer leads the Crimson Tide into a matchup against a revenge-seeking Georgia.

Lane Kiffin heard the rumors that Ole Miss was a sleeper in the College Football Playoffs, and he wanted to hit the world with an alarm clock. That’s what happened in the form of a 78-0 Week 1 win over Furman.

Jaxson Dart was phenomenal to start the season, rushing for 418 yards and five touchdowns. He could increase his value dramatically over the course of 2024, potentially becoming a Round 1 quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Oregon’s first clash as a member of the Big Ten did not go as planned. Although the Ducks were able to defeat Idaho, a final score of 24-14 was far from what Dan Lanning expected in week 1, even though the stats at the end of the game showed it wasn’t as exciting as the final score indicated.

A Week 2 matchup against Boise State could be just what Oregon needs to sharpen their teeth, but the Ducks will have to consider the Broncos’ star running back Ashton Jeantywho scored six touchdowns in Week 1.

Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame perhaps had the most impressive win of Week 1. The Fighting Irish entered Kyle Field and came out unscathed, beating Texas A&M by ten points in their opener.

Mike Elko’s team didn’t make it easy, but Riley Leonard and company stood firm in the face of danger. They’ll look to keep the momentum going into Week 2, when Notre Dame returns to Indiana to take on Northern Illinois.

In a never-ending clash due to unfavorable weather, Penn State ultimately defeated West Virginia after Mother Nature had her way in Morgantown. The Nittany Lions have the 2024 College Football Playoff on their minds, and the Mountaineers found that out the hard way this past weekend.

Drew Allar looked fantastic on the new Penn State offensive line. James Franklin smiled as Allar threw for 216 yards and three touchdowns, and the Nittany Lions will be hoping for a solid follow-up in Week 2 against Bowling Green at Beaver Stadium.

In their first match under Sherrone MooreMichigan secured a win in Ann Arbor. It certainly wasn’t pretty, but it doesn’t always have to be, as the Wolverines used a 17-point fourth quarter to beat Fresno State 30-10 in Week 1.

The real question is who will be Michigan’s quarterback in the future. Davis Warren got the lion’s share of the snaps about Alex Orji against the Bulldogs, but both will have to be ready and play better to beat Texas in Week 2.

Missouri hasn’t had this kind of hype in a while. After a stellar 2023, the Tigers picked up where they left off, starting 2024 with a 51-0 win over Murray State this past weekend.

A 28-point first quarter put the Racers under pressure, and then the Tigers started to call their dogs off. Missouri may not be tested much in the first few weeks of the season, but their Week 3 clash with Boston College looks more interesting now than it did last week.
