#11 Volleyball Matches Best Ranking Since 2019

OMAHA, Nebraska. — A three-game Bluejay Invitational title helped the Creighton Volleyball team climb one spot to No. 11 in this week’s AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 Poll, which was released Monday, Sept. 2. The placement matches CU’s best ranking since it spent four weeks in the Top 10 in 2019, as the program also held the No. 11 spot in both 2022 and 2023.

The Bluejays are one of 15 schools (along with Baylor, BYU, Florida, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State, Pitt, Purdue, Stanford, Texas and Wisconsin) to be ranked in the last 47 polls. Creighton has been ranked in all but six of the last 117 weeks the AVCA has released a Top 25 poll, and 125 times in program history, which is 41st all-time. Creighton is 204-45 all-time as a ranked team in the AVCA poll.

The highest ranking CU has ever achieved in program history is No. 7, according to the poll released on August 28, 2017. This marks the 13th consecutive campaign that Creighton has spent at least one week in the top 25.

Creighton’s BIG EAST rival, Marquette, came in at No. 24 and is one of six ranked Bluejay opponents in this week’s poll. The Bluejays play nonconference games against No. 2 Nebraska (Sept. 10), No. 4 Louisville (Sept. 15), No. 8 Purdue (Sept. 20), No. 13 Kansas (Sept. 21) and No. 20 USC (Sept. 5).

Texas, the back-to-back national champions, topped the rankings, just ahead of Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Louisville and Stanford.

Creighton returns to DJ Sokol Arena on Thursday at 6 p.m. ET when it takes on No. 20 USC (2-0). The game will be televised nationally on FS1 and can be heard locally on 1180 The Zone.
