How to Watch and Stream the Exclusive Friday Game of the 2024 NFL Season Live Online for Free Without Cable: Peacock

In January, the NFL surprised many when the AFC Wild Card game was not broadcast on a major network, ESPN or even its own NFL Network. Fans who wanted to see if the Chiefs would make the playoffs had to subscribe to the Peacock streaming service.

As the NFL kicks off the 2024-25 season, the NBCUniversal service has another exclusive: the second game of the season will once again be broadcast exclusively on Peacock.

While fans may balk at the fact that they have to subscribe to yet another service to watch the games, it’s something they may have to get used to. The NFL was pleased with the game’s ratings and indicated that they’re open to more exclusive streaming.

“We couldn’t be prouder of our partnership with Peacock and are thrilled with the results of the first-ever exclusively live-streamed NFL playoff game,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement earlier this year. “To best serve our fans, we need to ensure games are available to them as their viewing habits change and that includes digital distribution as we continue to help shape the future of the sports and entertainment industries.”

Here’s how to watch Friday night’s game. And what to expect the rest of the season in terms of exclusive streaming.

Which NFL teams are playing Friday? And which channels are showing the games?

Just like last night, there is only one game on Friday. (The home team is in second place.)

Friday September 6th

Green Bay Packers vs. Philadelphia Eagles, 8:15 p.m. ET on Peacock

How can I watch NFL games for free even if I don’t live in my area?

Normally we would recommend a good HD antenna here, but that won’t help you for tonight’s game. That leaves you with one option

Can I stream the 2024 NFL games live online if I don’t have a cable subscription?

Well, that’s clear…

Peacock

Here’s the good news… If you haven’t used it yet, you can grab a free seven-day trial of Peacock. (If you used that trick in January for the Wild Card game, you’ll have to pay this time around.) In addition to tonight, NBC’s streaming service will give you access to a variety of games, including all of the upcoming Sunday night games. Expect to pay $8 or $14 per month. (The free version of Peacock does not include live sports.)

Will more games be streamed exclusively this year?

Yes, actually even more.

Amazon will largely be the exclusive home of Thursday Night Football, with the exception of Thanksgiving (though it will air an exclusive game on Black Friday: Las Vegas in Kansas City). Next January, Amazon will also have exclusive rights to an NFL Wild Card game, as Peacock did last year.

On October 21, EPSN+ will exclusively stream a Monday Night Game pitting the Los Angeles Chargers against the Arizona Cardinals.

And Netflix will be the exclusive home for two Christmas Day games in December, the streaming service’s first foray into the NFL market.

Why is this competition taking place in Brazil?

The NFL wants to be known as more than an American sport. Brazil could be a key part of that international expansion, with more than 38 million fans, the league says. The first international game was held in Mexico City in 2005, and since then the NFL has played in several international cities, including London and Munich, Germany.

Does the NFL offer viewing packages to watch the games I want?

Yes, and they can help you with Friday’s game. There are three to choose from.

NFL app

The NFL app lets you stream games that are broadcast locally in your market on Sundays. If you want to watch an “out of market” game, you have two choices.

NFL+

Watch live local and out of market games and (with the premium subscription) replays. You’re looking at $50 per season. ($100 for premium.)

NFL Sunday Ticket

YouTube is once again the home base for this channel. Prices start this year at $73 per month for Sunday Ticket and YouTubeTV or $449 for Sunday Ticket alone (for all out-of-market games this season).
