Genoa, Nev. — The smoke plume from the Davis Fire was so prominent that it resulted in at least two fire calls Sunday from residents in northern Douglas County. I could see it on the Bald Mountain Alert Wildfire Camera in the Pine Nuts above Fish Springs.

The fire was one of the reasons East Fork Professional Firefighters had to cancel their September 14 barbecue for active and retired members.

It was also one of the reasons Nevada State Police were unable to respond to a pair of crashes Saturday, including a T-bone collision at Highway 395 and Riverview at 7:30 p.m. Saturday that reportedly left one driver at the scene. One person was taken away.

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle around 11 p.m. Friday and was taken by ambulance to Renown Regional Medical Center in East Fork. I have reached out to the Nevada State Police for more information, but given the current emergency, I don’t expect to hear much anytime soon.

The New 10and Work on the sidewalk starts today, so don’t be surprised if you have to go to The Record-Courier via the back door this morning.

The forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of 89 degrees, which could easily be 90 degrees. Winds will start out of the southeast at 5-10 mph, increasing to 10-15 mph and veering to the southwest. Gusts could reach 25 mph.
