Many local hospitals will remain open during Hurricane Francine, but plan to close their clinics in anticipation of the storm.

Katie Johnston, communications director for Baton Rouge General, says the hospital has generators with extra fuel and emergency power plans are in place.

“We have been busy preparing for the storm, from essential staffing and sleeping areas to evacuation plans and checking food and medical supplies,” Johnston said.

Camryn Curtis McCarter, marketing and communications specialist at Our Lady of the Lake Health, said the system’s emergency response team will remain in contact with local and state officials to support the community. The hospital has also brought in its emergency supplies, including water, linens and PPE, to keep facilities running during the storm.
