Dave Grohl reveals he welcomed a baby out of wedlock and hopes to ‘regain’ his family’s trust

Dave Grohl just dropped a bombshell that sent fans into a frenzy. In a statement on Instagram, the Foo Fighters rock star announced that he has welcomed a baby girl with someone who is not his wife of more than two decades, Jordyn Blum.

“I recently became the father of a baby girl,” he began, in a remarkably passive voice, “born out of wedlock.”

“I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her,” he continued. “I love my wife and my children, and I will do everything I can to earn their trust and earn their forgiveness.”

Grohl and Blum — who celebrated their 18th anniversary in 2003 — have three daughters: Violet, 18, Harper, 15, and Ophelia, 10. Before saying goodbye, the musician said he is “grateful” for the public’s “attention” to all four of his children as they “move forward together.”

Comments on the post were disabled, but fans had a lot to say about the infidelity on X (formerly Twitter). Among the angry and disappointed memes, fans joked that he should have started the post with one of his song lyrics, “I’ve got another confession to make.” They also noted how nonchalant he seemed about a subject that must be so difficult for his wife, older daughters, and other loved ones.

“Dave Grohl has a baby out of wedlock and announced it like a football team firing their coach lol,” one user wrote.

“Dave Grohl cheated on his wife and had a kid out of wedlock. No one talks to me now,” wrote another.

Neither Grohl’s representatives nor his immediate family have spoken further on the matter, though there are mixed reports that his older daughters deactivated their social media accounts following their father’s post.

In 2009, the former Nirvana drummer said TIME“I used to tour nine months a year. Now I don’t like being away from my kids for more than twelve days.”

The “nicest guy in rock” continued: “It’s changed everything I do. When you have kids, you see life through different eyes. You feel love more deeply and maybe you’re a little more compassionate.”

Grohl was previously married to Jennifer Leigh Youngblood and acknowledged that infidelity led to their divorce, according to The Associated Press news agency.
