Nick Saban explained Alabama’s biggest problem this season on ESPN’s “College GameDay” on Saturday.

“To me, the biggest problem with Alabama so far is their ‘big-little,’” he explained.

“I’ve always hated when our offense played ‘big-small.’ You make a lot of big plays, but then you have a lot of negative plays and inefficiency on offense, whether it’s sacks, fumbles, penalties, all those things that put you behind the down and distance, that you can’t sustain long drives, keep the ball, control the tempo of the game.”

The Tide has been flagged 20 times this season and is averaging 89.5 yards in penalties per game. The Tide has also lost four of its six fumbles this season. Saban did say there is some good news, though.

“I think the offensive line gets fixed today — I think both tackles are going to play today, which they didn’t play last week — I think that’s going to help a lot,” he said. “Most teams that struggle, struggle up front, and hopefully Alabama can fix that today.”

Today the Tide travels to Wisconsin.

“I’ve been there before,” he said. “It’s a tough place to play. Fans get caught up in it.”
