Suns’ Bradley Beal, Grayson Allen ruled out vs. Mavericks

Phoenix Suns guards Bradley Beal and Grayson Allen have been ruled out for the 2024-25 regular season home opener against the Dallas Mavericks, the team announced.

Josh Okogie (right hamstring injury) will not play, meaning his season debut for the Suns will be postponed.

Beal is dealing with right elbow soreness and Allen will miss his second straight game for cited personal reasons.

In Beal’s place, rookie Ryan Dunn will make his first NBA start.

The Mavericks (1-0) had a pair of G League players, Kessler Edwards and Brandon Williams, out for the game with no injury areas noted. Guard Dante Exum was the only other player on Dallas’ injury report who remains sidelined following right wrist surgery on Oct. 8.

Beal played more than 35 minutes (38 and 35) in each of the first two games, starting 7 for 12 from three-point range. He posted nine assists in a 123-116 loss at the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday and limited turnovers to two per game.

Allen, who announced last summer that he is expecting his first child, scored eight points on 2-of-6 shooting from behind the 3-point line in a 116-113 overtime win against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday.

The Suns (1-1) will take on the Mavericks after losing two of three games against the Luka Doncic-led team last season. Devin Booker was the leading scorer in two of those games, most notably dropping 46 points in a convincing 132-109 win at Dallas on January 24.

The reigning Western Conference champion Mavericks opened their 2024-2025 season with a 120-109 home win over the San Antonio Spurs. Doncic and newly minted teammate Klay Thompson combined for 50 points and 17 rebounds.

Phoenix Suns-Dallas Mavericks tip off at 7 p.m. on 98.7 and the Arizona Sports App.
