The Hawkeyes saw their season derailed a week ago with an embarrassing home loss to in-state rival Iowa State. The Cyclones mounted a huge comeback, handing the first loss in Kinnick Stadium to a Kirk Ferentz-led team that once led by 10+ points.

With all thoughts of a playoff game now quashed and the outlook clearly shifting to exceeding Vegas’ pre-season predictions of 7.5 wins overall, the Hawkeyes move on to the final non-league game of the season, their last in friendly Kinnick until mid-October.

Today they host the Trojans of Troy (Alabama), who enter the day 0-2. Troy went 11-3 last season en route to a Fun Belt conference title. But this year’s group is still settling in a new head coach and new faces on offense and defense. They give up more than 200 yards per game on the ground and now have the tough job of keeping Kaleb Johnson out of the end zone.

Can Iowa get back on track and take advantage of what should be a soft Troy run defense? Can Tim Lester find a rhythm for quarterback Cade McNamara to get the ship back on track on offense?
