It took just 46 minutes for Kylian Mbappé to give the Santiago Bernabéu crowd exactly what they wanted, opening the scoring for Real Madrid against Stuttgart with his first Champions League goal for the club.

Madrid struggled in the first half, with Stuttgart being the much better team, who unfortunately failed to score before half-time.

But as is so often the case, if you don’t take your chances against the reigning champions, they’ll make you pay in the end, and they did just 21 seconds into the second half.

The ball came about due to a mistake by the Germans, allowing Rodrygo to shoot away on the right and then put the ball on the backboard, after which the French captain was able to tap the ball into an empty goal.

The goal is Mbappe’s 49th in the Champions League, putting him level with Real Madrid kings on the all-time list. Alfredo Di Stefano.

Real Madrid have of course already won 15 titles, including two of the last three, while Mbappé is still hoping for his first victory.

His mission has started off excellently and there is no doubt that many more goals will follow.
