Nebraska volleyball sweeps Stanford in Top 5 showdown

If you’re a volleyball fan in Nebraska, life is still great.

Most Nebraska fans would have been thrilled with a win over No. 2 Stanford on Wednesday. They pulled off a sweep.

No. 5 Nebraska started strong, holding on during a bad moment in the second set and winning 25-17, 25-22, 25-14 at the Devaney Sports Center.

And now Nebraska has won 31 straight games at home in three seasons, the longest streak in the country. The streak includes wins against teams ranked No. 1 (Wisconsin in 2023) and No. 2 (Stanford).

Stanford was undefeated with two wins against last season’s Final Four teams: Texas and Wisconsin.

It was a showdown between not only two of the most successful programs in the history of the sport (a combined 40 Final Four appearances), but also a meeting of programs that are still at the top of their game.
