In a resurfaced interview Nuzzi did with The New York Times in March, after the relationship reportedly began, she suggested that political commentators may be “willfully ignoring” that the presidential election is a “three-man race.”

“A majority of Americans say they would not be happy with another ‘lesser of two evils’ election, and they’re lucky because they have a slate of third-party candidates to choose from,” Nuzzi said.

“One of those candidates, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., is polling well, particularly among young people, and he is steadily gaining access to the ballot box across the country.”

More comments from Nuzzi also surfaced, criticizing the portrayal of female reporters in films. “Why does Hollywood think female reporters sleep with their sources?” Nuzzi wrote on Twitter in 2015.

In her statement, Nuzzi said the relationship “should have been made public to avoid the appearance of a conflict. I deeply regret not doing so immediately and apologize to those I have disappointed, particularly my colleagues in New York.”
