Spotify disabled or not working? Users report widespread access issues

Spotify sputtered on Sunday morning, with thousands of users reporting technical issues accessing the streaming service.

According to the uptime monitoring service Downdetector, user error reports for Spotify started to peak around 10:45 a.m. ET on September 29. According to Downdetector, the number of complaints was more than 9,000 at 11 a.m. and more than 15,000 at 11:35 a.m. In Spotify’s desktop app, some users were greeted with a “Something went wrong” error message and attempts to play songs and albums were unsuccessful. The streamer’s smartphone apps were also unresponsive for many users.

User reports on Downdetector spanned the US, with issues also reported by Spotify listeners in Canada and other countries.

Spotify – like any other internet-provided service of significant size – has suffered from occasional outages in the past. For example, in March 2022, the service’s users experienced login issues, with Spotify saying their username and password were incorrect; those problems were resolved after about an hour and a half.
