ForbesToday’s NYT ‘Connections’ hints and answers for Saturday, September 28

Hey, people! I hope you have a fantastic weekend.

In case you missed it, The New York Times And The Athletics debuted with a sports-based version of Connections last week.

I’m glad I have a second game Connections to play every day, but I’m not confident that I’ll do so well. I don’t know much about North American sports, despite living in Canada for over a decade. I’m a European football-non-soccer guy first and foremost. For example, I know next to nothing about the college sports system, and I’m bad with team logos. But I do have a good general knowledge, so maybe I can handle more difficult games.

Just like the regular one Connectionswe will write down hints and answers for each game day in the near future. I divide the tasks with colleagues Paul and Erik.

Anyway, today’s NYT Connections hints and answers emerge immediately.

Play connections

Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. Every day you get a new puzzle at midnight. You can play on the NYT website or Games app.

You will be shown a grid of 16 words. Your job is to divide them into four groups of four by discovering the connections between them. The groups can be things like clickable items, names for study participants, or words preceded by a body part.

There is only one solution to each puzzle, and you have to be careful when it comes to words that fit into more than one category. You can play the words in any order so you might see the connections between them.

Each group has a color code. The yellow group is usually the easiest to figure out, blue and green fall in the middle, and the purple group is usually the most difficult. The purple group often uses puns.

Select four words that you think go together and press Send. If you make a guess and you’re wrong, you lose a life. When you’re close to the right group, you might see a message saying you’re just one word away from the right group, but you still need to figure out which one to swap.

If you make four mistakes, the game is over. Let’s make sure this doesn’t happen with some tips and, if you’re really struggling, today’s information Connections answers. As in Word and other similar games, it’s easy to share results with your friends on social media and group chats.

I immediately got the purple group, with JUSTICE and LABOR coming towards me. The yellows were easy enough then.

The last two groups needed some time to distract themselves. At first I thought there might be something in the combination of THROW and DISCARD, but I picked out the green colors first and then the blue without making a mistake.

PS Outside of reality TV shows, it’s very rare that you can watch something and say with certainty that someone’s life has been changed forever in that moment. One of my favorite YouTube videos is Pharrell Williams listening to the brilliant “Alaska” by Maggie Rogers (then a student) for the first time and absolutely gushing over the song:
