Follow the Vanderbilt goal post to the Cumberland River

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – After the Vanderbilt Commodores’ victory over number one Alabama, students tore down the goal post.

Students paraded the goal post from FirstBank Stadium to the Cumberland River, where they threw it into the water.

Follow the goal post from the stadium to the river:

First, the unranked ‘Dores defeated No. 1 Alabama 40-35 for the program’s first win against the Tide since 1984.

After the win, the students stormed the field to celebrate and began working to pull down the goalpost, ultimately succeeding in their goal.

They then went out into the street and carried the goal post out of the stadium and onto Broadway.

After parading the goalpost down Broadway, the students then threw it into the Cumberland River.

WSMV4 spotted law enforcement officers at the river, trying to plan their next steps.

Stay tuned to WSMV4 as we learn more about the possible goalpost recovery.
