Get a free Krispy Kreme donut by going to McDonald’s: here’s how

Krispy Kreme is making its way to McDonald’s: and you can get a free donut as part of the deal.

Earlier this year, the companies unveiled a plan to bring Krispy Kreme donuts to local McDonald’s restaurants in a “phased market rollout” aimed at nationwide availability by the end of 2026 at participating restaurants.

Here’s the first step: Krispy Kreme will begin stocking McDonald’s locations in the Chicago area with Original Glazed and other fresh donuts starting Tuesday, October 15.

To celebrate the partnership, participating Krispy Kreme locations nationwide will give customers a free Krispy Kreme Original Glazed donut from Thursday through October 14 when they present a paper or digital McDonald’s receipt dated October 10-14.

“The number one request we receive from consumers is for more access to our delicious, fresh donuts,” Josh Charlesworth, president and CEO of Krispy Kreme, said in a press release. “Having Krispy Kreme donuts under the Golden Arches is worth its weight in gold to our fans and we’re happy to celebrate by giving our guests who also visit a McDonald’s a free Original Glazed donut.”

Collaboration plans for Krispy Kreme and McDonald’s

Krispy Kreme expects to have fresh donuts daily in more than 1,000 McDonald’s restaurants by the end of 2024 and in 12,000 locations by the end of 2026, the company said.

The two companies began testing donuts last year at 160 McDonald’s restaurants in the Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky, areas. These pilot restaurants will continue to serve Krispy Kreme donuts during the national rollout, the companies said.

The donut flavors will be coming to McDonald’s Chicago starting October 15 and will be available all day while supplies last:

  • Original glazed donut.
  • Chocolate ice cream with sprinkles donut.
  • The chocolate frozen Kreme filled donut.
