The Red River Rivalry game is Saturday, as No. 1 Texas will face No. 18 Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

If you’re taking a trip to Dallas for the Red River Rivalry, you’ll need to know how to get around, where to park and more. Not there for football?

The Red River Rivalry game is played annually at Dallas’ Cotton Bowl at Fair Park, located at 3750 The Midway, Dallas, TX 75215. This will be the 120th game these teams will play in their long rivalry.

What time does the Texas vs. game start? OU?

The Texas-OU game starts at 2:30 PM CT. According to WFAA, the game has typically been played at 11 a.m. since 2008.

From 1950 to 1972, the game started from 2:00 PM to 3:20 PM and later changed to 11:50 AM to 2:35 PM in the 1980s and 1990s

Where can you park at Cotton Bowl Stadium?

The State Fair of Texas will be open well before the football game, so it’s wise to get there early.

The State Fair of Texas opens at 7 a.m. so fans can arrive and enjoy the fair before game time.

What is the 2024 Cotton Bowl Bag Policy?

The Cotton Bowl has a clear bag policy that you can see here.

Bags that are clear and approved include:

  • Bags or containers made of transparent plastic and no larger than 30 x 15 x 30 cm
  • Clear, resealable, 1-gallon plastic storage bags
  • Small clutches or purses do not have to be transparent, but should not exceed 10.5 x 15.5 cm

Prohibited bags include:

  • Fanny packs
  • Mesh bags
  • Straw bags
  • Duffle bags
  • Backpacks (transparent backpacks are prohibited)
  • Fallen
  • Large carrying bags
  • Diaper bags
  • Large Purses (4.5″ X 6.5″)

How many participants does the Cotton Bowl have?

According to FairParkDallas.com, the Cotton Bowl has 91,000 seats.

Before the renovated stadium, when the old Cotton Bowl opened in 1930, it held 46,000 people.

The Cotton Bowl, initially called Fair Park Stadium, was the centerpiece of Fair Park, an educational and entertainment center built in 1936 for the Texas Centennial Exposition. Fair Park is now listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. From the NFL Championship on January 1, 1967 to the presentation of 23 Heisman Trophy winners, Cotton Bowl Stadium has seen many highlights in its more than ninety years.

When does the State Fair of Texas end?

The State Fair of Texas is seeing strong festivities in 2024, despite near-record high temperatures forecast for North Texas this weekend.

As the country’s longest-running fair, the annual event spans 24 consecutive days. This year it started on Friday 27 September and runs until Sunday 20 October.

Where is the Texas State Fair?

The State Fair of Texas is historic Fair Park, located at 3809 Grand Ave. in South Dallas. The 277-hectare complex organizes more than 1,200 activities annually and has the world’s largest collection of Art Deco exhibition buildings, according to its website.

What time does the State Fair open? See hours

The State Fair of Texas opens early Saturday so football fans can experience pre-game festivities. The gates open at 7am. Due to the 2:30 PM start time, organizers expect a larger crowd and encourage visitors to plan their trips to the fairgrounds accordingly.

State Fair Will Call opens at 7:00 am. The Will Call booth is located just outside the fairgrounds at 816 S. Second Ave., across from the Music Hall at Fair Park. Coupon stands, online coupon collection centers, catering stands and information stands will also open at 7 a.m.

Guests can skip the long lines by purchasing coupons in advance at BigTex.com. Coupon orders must be picked up at a Hospitality Center, not a coupon stand. Please ensure the original purchaser is present and has the driver’s license and credit card used for the order. Guests who do not meet all requirements will not be able to redeem their coupon vouchers.

How much do Texas State Fair tickets cost?

When it comes to purchasing tickets to the State Fair of Texas, there are several options:

Ticket prices also vary by age, with seniors half price ($5) every Thursday:

  • General admission: $15-$25
  • Child (3 to 12 years): $10-$18
  • Child (2 years and under): FREE
  • Senior (60 and older): $10-$18

The State Fair of Texas also has daily discounts, available online or at the gate:

  • Military discount: $10-$15 (with ID)

What are options for parking at the Texas State Fair?

The official State Fair parking lots open at 7 a.m. Saturday and are located at Gates 2, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, 13 and 15. Organizers recommend fans take I-30 exit 48A toward Haskell Avenue. for faster access to parking spaces.

Pickup and drop-off for rideshare services, including taxis, Uber, Lyft, Alto, etc., is located at Gate 1 at Gurley Ave & S. Haskell Ave on the 4200 block of Gurley Avenue.

What is the 2024 Texas State Fair Bag Policy?

A new policy implemented this year limits the size of bags guests can bring into the fairgrounds. All permitted bags are searched.

Approved bags include:

  • Bags and softshell coolers must not exceed 9″
  • Medical and parenting/childcare bags may be larger, but will be searched at all entry points. Medical bags may contain medically necessary items including but not limited to insulin, medications, portable oxygen, small soft pack coolers and breast pumps.

Prohibited items include:

  • Bags and softshell coolers larger than 9″ X 10″ X 12″
  • Loose ice
  • Any firearms, batons, explosives, ammunition, chemical delivery devices, replicas or hoaxes, or other weapons of any kind
  • Knives prohibited by state law

The State Fair does not have lockers or bag checks. Prohibited items or bags must be returned to vehicles or disposed of properly. Security, staff and volunteers will do that not hold objects.

Can you bring a gun to the State Fair of Texas?

The fair’s gun policy applies to all guests regardless of license to carry firearms, constitutional carry, concealed carry and open carry of firearms anywhere on the fairgrounds, including Cotton Bowl Stadium. This does not apply to current peace officers or qualified retired peace officers, whose credentials will be verified by Dallas Police Department officers during the screening process.
