Bears’ Caleb Williams hits Cole Kmet for a 31-yard touchdown

LONDON – Cole Kmet got the easy part out of the way first.

After Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams faked a pass to the left and then right on the Bears’ third drive, the rookie found Kmet open over the middle of the field for a 31-yard touchdown. The tight end broke two tackles around his ankles and scored to give the Bears their first lead of the game over the Jacksonville Jaguars. It was the second-longest touchdown of his career.

It’s what happened right after that likely put Kmet under a lot more stress.

After long snapper Scott Daly went down with a knee injury on the Bears’ second punt, Kmet, Chicago’s emergency long snapper, began warming up on the sideline. He stayed on the court after his score and snapped the extra point, putting the Bears ahead 7-3 with 11:17 to play in the second quarter.
