Cooler, but more typical for mid-October

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The last time the 60s highs happened in Lincoln was September 22nd. That was unusual because we should have been in the 1970s. If we reach the 60s on Sunday, we will be below normal for the first time since October 1.

Lows tonight will also be cooler than the past few days. We could drop to near freezing in the west, but likely stay in the mid to upper 40s in the east.

Highs on Sunday are forecast to be in the 60s for the most part, but there may be some spots that only climb into the upper 50s.

With mostly clear skies heading into Monday morning, we will have lows in the upper 20s and low 30s.

Widespread frost advisories and freeze warnings are in effect for early Monday morning across much of central and western Nebraska. Outdoor plants and vegetation are likely to be damaged by these freezing and below freezing temperatures.

Lows in the mid-20s to mid-30s will most likely lead to widespread frost and freezes.

Temperatures won’t be cool all week as we expect temperatures to warm back into the 70s and 80s statewide on Thursday. More specifically, there are chances of rain on consecutive days here in the capital this Friday and Saturday for the first time in quite some time.

Cool to start the week with warmer readings towards the end of the week.
