The NFL career has been a long and winding road for Amari Cooper.

Once a first-round draft pick out of Alabama, the former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver has now been traded twice in the past three seasons, with the latest trade coming this Tuesday when Cooper was moved from Cleveland to Buffalo.

How did the 2018 trade that brought Cooper to Dallas compare to the other deal teams for the five-time Pro Bowler? Let’s look at the numbers:

Oakland Raiders (2015–18)

Costs for acquiring Cooper: No. 4 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft.

Statistics: 225 catches, 3,183 yards, 19 receiving TDs in 52 games over three and a half seasons. Made 2015 NFL All-Rookie Team, 2015 and 2016 Pro Bowler. Raiders made the postseason once in his tenure (0-1).

Return for Cooper: On October 22, 2018, Cooper was traded to the Cowboys in exchange for a 2019 first-round pick. The selection would later be used for safety Johnathan Abram.

Dallas Cowboys (2018-21)

Costs for acquiring Cooper: 2019 first round draft pick sent to Oakland.

Statistics: 292 catches, 3,893 yards, 27 receiving TDs in 56 games over three and a half seasons. Made Pro Bowl in 2018 and 2019. Cowboys made the postseason twice during his tenure (1-2).

Return for Cooper: On March 16, 2022, Cooper was traded to the Browns in exchange for a 2022 fifth-round pick and a trade of 2022 sixth-round picks, almost two years to the day after the 27-year-old signed a five-year-old. $100 million expansion to include Dallas. The picks Dallas received would later be used against offensive lineman Matt Waletzko and linebacker Devin Harper. The trade saved Dallas millions in salary cap space at the time.

Cleveland Browns (2022-2024)

Costs for acquiring Cooper: 2022 fifth-round pick and a trade of 2022 sixth-round picks with Dallas.

Statistics: 174 catches, 2,660 yards, 16 touchdowns in 38 games over two seasons. Made the Pro Bowl in 2023. Browns made the postseason once in his tenure (0-1).

Return for Cooper: On October 15, 2024, Cooper and a 2025 sixth-round pick were traded to Buffalo in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick and a 2026 seventh-round pick.

Buffalo Bills (2024–present)

Costs for acquiring Cooper: 2025 third-round pick and a 2026 seventh-round pick.
