Whoopi Goldberg says Trump’s town hall music ‘freaked her out’: ‘I’m really upset’

“The View” host Whoopi Goldberg said Tuesday that former President Donald Trump’s decision to play music at a town hall event on Monday “freaked her out.”

Trump ordered organizers of the event in Oaks, Pennsylvania, to play several classic and contemporary songs during intermissions to appeal to people with medical problems. Goldberg claimed that “this should really freak everyone out,” and criticized Trump for playing music instead of talking about “everything that’s going on in the world.”

This scared me. He scared me a lot, but this really upset me,” she added.

Her co-host, Sunny Hostin, suggested Trump lacked empathy by playing the songs.

“Instead of maybe checking on them like someone with empathy would, or doing something, he decides to respond to this,” she said.

First responders treated the two people who experienced medical issues Monday, while the former president offered encouragement to everyone involved. Hostin said Trump could have used the situation to discuss issues like health care and climate change, explaining that the event was hot.

“Instead of – and that’s because it was very hot there – instead of maybe addressing the issue of climate change, you know, why is it so hot now, instead of maybe saying something like health care, something about health care because people faint, he didn’t do that,” she noted.

The former president also danced to the music as it played, a move that co-host Joy Behar criticized.

“He opens the thing up to questions and answers – the audience can ask him questions. He doesn’t have the answers. So he welcomes this,” she said.

I mean, the guy doesn’t know the difference between a gathering, or whatever that was, and ‘Dancing with the Stars,'” Behar continued.

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the criticism. Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for the campaign, posted on social media that the town hall was a “total love fest.”

Everyone was so excited they fainted, so @realDonaldTrump turned on music,” Cheung said wrote on X. “Nobody wanted to leave wanting to hear more songs from the famous DJT Spotify playlist!”
