Expected lineup: October 15 vs. New Jersey

RALEIGH, NC -The Carolina Hurricanes will turn to Pyotr Kochetkov on Tuesday as they try for their first win of the season when they take on the New Jersey Devils.

The 25-year-old won both of his starts in the preseason and allowed just one goal in each of his games against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He will look to follow up last year’s campaign in which he went 23-14-4 with a .911 save percentage, earning a spot on the NHL’s All-Rookie Team.

For Kochetkov, the Canes could go with the same lineup they played in the team’s regular season opener on Friday. Or maybe not.

Rod Brind’Amour and the staff had deployed Jack Roslovic along with Sebastian Aho and Seth Jarvis during practices and games from September 25 through October 10, but on Friday during warm-ups they opted to throw a curveball and Andrei Svechnikov to replace Roslovic.

In recent days during training and this morning’s skate, Svechnikov stayed with Aho and Jarvis, but it also seems possible that they could return to Roslovic on that wing at any time.

Jordaan Staal was the lone scorer for Carolina in Friday’s loss, and Brind’Amour called his line of Jordan Martinook and William Carrier the best trio the team had all night.
