Premiere date of Prophecy, official trailer for Max Series

After dropping two teasers, Max unveiled the official trailer for the upcoming Legendary prequel series on Thursday Dune: Prophecy and set a firm premiere date of November 17.

The news was announced today during the series’ panel at New York Comic Con. Watch the trailer above.

The series is set 10,000 years before the ascension of Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides in the Denis Villeneuve-directed films. It follows two Harkonnen sisters as they battle forces that threaten the future of humanity, and establish the legendary sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. To you, they are Jedi-like sisters from Frank Herbert’s books Star Wars people out there.

Dune: Prophecy will be six episodes. The series has been in the works since the early days of HBO Max five years ago.

During today’s NYCC panel, attendees saw the trailer featuring Watson as the robed and forbidding head of the mighty sisterhood with the ambition to, in her words, “advance our kind and rule the future.” Amid shots of vast alien landscapes and towering temple-like interiors, Emily Watson’s Valya Harkonnen says that “now is the time to secure the throne and protect the empire.”

Valya and her sister, Tula (Olivia Williams), see their plans set in motion, and Mark Strong appears as an emperor who says that if he loses control of one of Dune’s most important worlds, the desert planet Arrakis is home to the spice that drives power. interplanetary travel, his enemies will feed him ‘to the worm’ – a reference to Dune’s giant, herb-producing annelids.

Travis Fimmel also appears as Desmond Hart, another possible rival to the women training a generation of powerful female mystics.

The trailer ends with Watson wryly saying, “I run a school for young women. We are not a threat to anyone.”

The series, which underwent several major casting, writing and directing changes while dealing with a pandemic and strikes, stars Watson, Williams, Fimmel, Jodhi May, Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jihae, Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning and Yerin Ha.

Alison Schapker serves as showrunner and EP. Diane Ademu-John, one of those who left early, co-developed the series and is an EP. Anna Foerster director produced and directed several episodes, including the first. Jordan Goldberg, Mark Tobey, John Cameron, Matthew King, Scott Z. Burns and Jon Spaihts are executive producers with author Brian Herbert, along with Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert as executive producers for the Frank Herbert estate. Author Kevin J. Anderson serves as co-producer.

Legendary two Dune films released by Warner Bros have collectively grossed more than $1.1 billion at the global box office. A third film is in the making.
