The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southwestern Otero County in south-central New Mexico until 7:45 PM MDT. This warning applies to Orogrande, McGregor Range Base and the Otero Mesa.

The greatest danger is radar-indicated wind gusts of 60 miles per hour and quarter-sized hail. If you live in the path of the storm, hail damage to vehicles is expected, as well as wind damage to roofs, siding and trees.

At 7:05 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm occurred 4 miles northwest of McGregor Range Base, moving 35 mph (56 km/h) to the northeast.
