Yankees legend Derek Jeter could only handle so much of his former crosstown rivals’ lovable mascots, leading to an awkward moment during Fox Sports’ postgame show.

Mr. and Mrs. Mets joined the Fox crew of Kevin Burkhardt, Alex Rodriguez, David Ortiz and Jeter along the third base line at Citi Field following the Mets’ 12-6 victory over the Dodgers in Game 5 of the NLCS on Friday evening .

The awkwardness started with Ortiz’s comments towards the duo, especially Ms. Met.

‘My girl is here. Come here sweetheart,” the former Red Sox great said before giving Ms. Met a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

He didn’t stop there after Mr. Met came over to jokingly confront him.

“See Kevin when you win, everything can be shared,” Ortiz said, stunning a laughing Burkhardt and Rodrigez. “I just made that up, everything is shareable.”

“Is this a love triangle?” Burkhardt responded as Ortiz began walking away with Ms. Met. “I think this is a show for another network.”

Jeter, who won five World Series with the Yankees, including the 2000 Subway Series against the Mets, seemed to be enjoying himself for that moment.

But he soon started organizing his note cards.

The former Yankees captain then tapped them on the desk and stood stoically as Mr. Met sat down next to him in Ortiz’s chair and began pretending to talk on air.

Jeter briefly looked back on the entire situation.

“The wheels are coming off,” a laughing Rodriguez said to sum up what just happened.

It looked like the wheels were coming off the Mets’ season, but they rode an early three-run homer from Pete Alonso to a convincing win to cut the Dodgers’ lead to 3-2.

They will try to force a winner-take-all Game 7, with Sean Manaea taking the Hill in Game 6 in Los Angeles on Sunday.
