The Boston Bruins lost 2-1 in extra time last night (October 19) to the Utah Hockey Club. Although it was a close game, the Bruins undoubtedly ran into a serious problem that ultimately led to them losing this game.

The Bruins had a disastrous night with the puck as they had a season-high 22 giveaways. This obviously negatively affected their play, and it played a major role in their loss to Utah.

Turning the puck over so often did not do the Bruins any favors offensively. In addition to only scoring one goal in the matchup, they also managed only 23 shots in the game. That’s just not enough chances, especially against a solid goaltender like Utah’s Connor Ingram.

Bruins star goaltender Jeremy Swayman did his job to keep the Bruins in this game as he saved 30 of 32 shots. Had Swayman not been on his A-game, the Bruins’ sloppy play could have led to a much more lopsided loss for him.

The Bruins will now look to turn things around when they play the Nashville Predators on Tuesday (October 22). The Predators enter their matchup having lost their first five games, so they will be hungry. So the Bruins will have to play better with the puck or another loss could happen in the future.
