It was a charged start to the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of The Americas as Charles Leclerc stormed forward by as many as three positions to overtake polesitter Lando Norris and take the lead of the race.

Although it looked like Norris had a strong start, he was immediately challenged by Max Verstappen entering Turn 1. With both championship participants going wide, the Ferrari driver was given the perfect opportunity to move up to P1.

With the two Mercedes starting out of position at the back of the pack, Lewis Hamilton improved by a handful of places to start his damage control drive in an incredibly positive manner, but that soon came to an abrupt end as he exited the race and was stranded on lap 2 in the gravel.
