CNY neighbors are gearing up for Election Day

Election Day is just around the corner and early voting in New York begins on October 26, which is also the deadline to register to vote.

Across the country, voting is the most important thing for many, including those in Central New York.

“I’m ready to vote, eager to vote and most of all curious to see what the results will be,” said Auburn native Anne Selover.

Selover said people need to remember how important it is to vote.

It’s really the only tool we have to make an impact on what’s happening in our country and locally.

Although she and countless CNY neighbors have a history of voting, this will be 18-year-old Sinceyer Smith’s first time voting.

“It actually means a lot because a lot of things have happened for black men and women to vote in general, and I’m really only voting because people have fought for us in the past to be able to vote, to be here now and to be free are. said Smith.

Smith isn’t entirely sure what each candidate’s policies are, both at the state and local level.

Jeff Baum, a registered conservative, votes for the person and not the party.

He encourages people to educate themselves about who they are voting for, based on who the candidate is.

“Don’t stick to one media outlet. For example, there are people who just stay with Fox or just stay with CNN, just look,” Baum said.
