Chiefs-Raiders: Chiefs take a 7-0 lead after the opening drive

The Kansas City Chiefs have taken their 6-0 record (and a twelve-game winning streak since last season) to Allegiant Stadium for a Week 8 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. The last time these teams met – last Christmas at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium – the Raiders defeated the Chiefs 20-14 on defensive scoring in back-to-back games in Kansas City.

First quarter

The Raiders won the opening coin toss and postponed the decision on possession until the second half. That allowed the Chiefs to start the offense, starting from the 30-yard line after a touchback.

The Chiefs offense immediately ran out on third down on the first drive, but newly acquired wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins made his first big play with the team to move the chains. The 13-yard completion was followed by a big gain through the air for Travis Kelce. When Kansas City faced yet another third down, running back Samaje Perine converted by taking a short pass for 21 yards, all the way to the Raiders three-yard line.

After a stuffed handoff, running back Kareem Hunt knocked in another on second and goal, giving the Chiefs an initial 7-0 lead after the opening drive.
