Tyler, the Creator, led in Chromacopy with a series of noirish, self-directed videos: “St. Chroma,” the Ayo Edebiri with “Noid” and “Thought I Was Dead.” Explaining the unconventional early this morning release time, Tyler wrote on social media last week: “YOU CAN LISTEN TO IT WHEN YOU WAKE UP, YOU DON’T HAVE TO DEprive YOURSELF OF SLEEP FOR ANYTHING THAT WILL BE THERE WHEN YOU WAKE UP*. ”

At one Chromacopy at a listening event in Los Angeles, Tyler linked the album’s themes to his mother’s wisdom, Rolling stone reports. “Now that I’m 33, all these things are like, ‘oh, that’s what she was fucking talking about,’” he said. “’Oh, I’m not the man I was when I was 20. Oh shit, people are getting older, people have children and families.’ The only thing I have is a new Ferrari, which feels a bit strange. I have gray hairs on my chest. I just wanted to write about things that I think about when I’m dozing around.’ ‘

Tyler will tour behind the album next year, with stops on three continents.
