CURRENT WARNINGS

The National Weather Service has issued freeze and frost warnings for Monday morning as temperatures dip below 30 degrees. Areas west of the Blue Ridge will no longer receive frost/freeze warnings as the growing season ended earlier this month.

THIS WEEK

• Dry weather expected until Thursday
• Warming trend likely until late this week
• There may be a few showers on Friday

MONDAY: Areas of morning frost are likely. Lows will remain in the 30s and 40s.

Highs will warm into the 50s and 60s.

TUESDAY-THURSDAY: A large area of ​​high pressure will build up in the eastern US. Temperatures will climb into the 70s and reach near 80 degrees Thursday afternoon.

HALLOWEEN EVENING: Plan all treats and no tricks with early evening temperatures in the 60s and 70s under mostly clear skies.

FRIDAY: A cold front tracking from the Ohio River Valley could bring spotty showers to the region on Friday. From now on, most places of residence will remain dry.

AUTUMN FIRE SEASON

The fall fire season runs from October 15 to November 30. Never burn on hot, dry and windy days and know the local fire regulations in your region. If you must burn outside, never leave your fire unattended. Don’t forget that about 90% of forest fires are caused by humans!

AUTUMN LEAVED UPDATE

We’re wrapping up October, which means the fall peak is happening or about to happen! The Greenbrier and areas along and west of the Blue Ridge Parkway are experiencing peak conditions this weekend.

Elsewhere (orange areas) the colors are changing quickly, but not quite at their peak. . Peak fall foliage for all areas will be complete in the next 1-2 weeks.
