LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A village in southeastern Nebraska was evacuated Tuesday due to a grass fire.

According to Nemaha County Emergency Management, the fire was reported near Johnson around 1:45 p.m.

Seven fire departments responded when strong winds pushed the flames north, officials said.

Authorities have issued an evacuation notice for the village of Brock, about 20 miles southwest of Nebraska City.

The Nemaha County Wellness Center in Auburn was opened to evacuees.

Most of the fire was under control after about four hours, the disaster management agency said.

The fire brigade was still on site on Tuesday evening to monitor the sources of the fire.
