Joe Rogan explains the details about Harris’ missed ‘opportunity’ to appear on his podcast

Joe Rogan revealed it was the Harris campaign who reached out to get their candidate on his show before declining his “open invitation” to drop by anytime, even at midnight when she was in Texas last week.

The host of “The Joe Rogan Experience” spoke with satirist and podcast host Konstantin Kisin, who brought up Rogan’s original plan to sit down with Harris. Rogan had said earlier this week that it was scrapped because the campaign demanded that the interview last only an hour and that he travel to meet her, rather than recording at his podcast studio in Austin, Texas.

“She had an opportunity to come,” Rogan said in the episode released Wednesday.

He added that he disagreed with the terms of the campaign: “You could look at this and say, ‘Oh, you’re a diva,’ but she had the opportunity to come here when she was in Texas, and I literally gave her I said if she’s done at ten, we’ll come back here at ten. I go, I do it at nine in the morning, I do it at ten at night. I’ll do it at midnight when she’s awake, when she wants to have a Red Bull, you know.”

Kisin made accusations that Rogan was a “diva” if he wanted to give her a chance to speak.

“She even reached out when she found out (Trump) was coming. So their camp reached out to me. So I said, ‘Great, I’d love to talk to her.’ But it was very difficult to capture it. They wanted to travel and the thing is… if I go somewhere, there will be other people in the room. And they want to check a lot of things, I’m sure.” Rogan, referring to staff who tried to interfere with the interview.

He continued, “My whole goal with her and with him is just to talk. Just sit and have a conversation like a human being. You discover things about people. At least you get an idea of it, a real feeling. I don’t give a fuck what we talk about. I just want to talk to you.

Kisin wondered if the Harris campaign might be “wary” of him and believed he was on Trump’s side.

“I don’t know, I mean… just because of my appearance there’s always been this assumption that I’m a right-wing MAGA guy. I was a Bernie supporter, you know,” Rogan said. “I’m definitely a politically homeless person. You know, I’ve always considered myself a left-wing person. I never thought I would ever vote right, but then the tides of culture changed in a very bizarre way. And over time it has made me much more aware of what it is all about.”

He went on to denounce extremists on both sides of the political spectrum, but specifically attacked liberals for no longer appearing to defend free speech.

“The only solution to bad speech is better speech. We’ve always known that. But they had control over social media and these collective groups of people who all had the same ideology. And then that tribal mentality sets in and you lose power. perspective you should have as an educated person who recognizes that everyone should be able to speak and that we need to figure out who is right. And maybe you’re wrong, and maybe you’re clinging to the idea that you’re “right.” You’re right and you’re going to do the whole thing a terrible disservice,” Rogan said.

Rogan first explained why the interview was scrapped in an X-post on Monday, writing: “For the record, the Harris campaign did not pass on the podcast.”

“They offered a date for Tuesday, but I would have had to travel to her and they only wanted to do an hour. I’m convinced the best way to do that is in the studio in Austin,” he added. “My sincere wish is to just have a nice conversation and get to know her as a person. I really hope we can make that happen.”

Shortly after the post, it was announced that Ohio Senator J.D. Vance would appear on the podcast.

The vice presidential candidate sat down with Rogan at his Austin studio on Wednesday morning to record an interview. Vance told attendees at the Pennsylvania rally later that day that it was “almost four hours, so I’ve officially done more interview time than Kamala Harris did in the entire campaign, just today.”
