THIRD QUARTER

0:36 – An incompletion and a Kalel Mullings run sets up a third-and-8 for Michigan to start the fourth quarter.

7:09 – Michigan’s star Josaiah Stewart goes down with what appears to be a leg injury and leaves the game; however, it seemed like he wanted to get back into the game a few clicks later. Michigan only forced an Oregon punt to get a player lining up over the long snapper – that’s a five-yard penalty and gave Oregon a first down. Later in the drive, Michigan is flagged for having too many men on the field. The Ducks take advantage, but settle for a 26-yard field goal.

13:47 – Davis Warren hits Colston Loveland for a 34-yard gain. Michigan remains the only team in the country without a pass of at least 40 yards this season. A third down from Warren on Tyler Morris moves the chains and gets Michigan to the Oregon 22. Loveland comes up with another nice grab to set up a first down and goal for the Oregon 6. Kalel Mullings’ first carry of the drive gains two yards; Alex Orji comes in and loses those two meters. On third down, Warrens buys a few extra seconds before finding Peyton O’Leary in the crowd for a touchdown. Okay, we have a game.

3:00 PM – Oregon gets the ball to start the second half and goes three and out. An important stop for Michigan’s defense if the Wolverines want to have a chance to get back into this game.

1:47 – Michigan’s defense has no answers for Oregon’s offense. The Ducks played another long pass: a 44-yard completion to a wide-open Traeshon Holden in the middle of the field. The Wolverines lost control later in the drive and Dillon Gabriel rushed for a 23-yard touchdown. Oregon has 304 total yards and is averaging a whopping 8 yards per play. It’s 5 for 6 on third down.

4:19 – Michigan OC Kirk Campbell dipped into his bag of gadget plays, leading to the team’s biggest win of the game. Colston Loveland had a 36-yard reception on a flea flicker, but the Wolverines made a stop after that, leading to a Dominic Zvada 38-yard FG.

9:00 – Oregon started on its own and needed just 10 plays to find the end zone. He picked up a key third-down conversion early in the drive and started cooking the rest of the way. The big play was a 38-yard pass from Dillon Gabriel to Traeshon Holden along the Oregon sideline. Michigan CB Aamir Hall was burned in coverage but made a TD-saving tackle after the catch. It didn’t matter as Noah Whittington found the end zone on the next play and bounced it outside for a six-yard score.

The Ducks have totaled 219 yards.

10:40 – Another tough series for the Michigan offense, and once again it started with a negative play. This time it was a short completion to Colston Loveland that caused a loss of three yards, and the Wolverines were unable to recover. On third-and-13, Davis Warren threw a tunnel screen to WR Semaj Morgan that was 27 feet. But Michigan chose to punt from the Oregon 42.

11:37 – Michigan’s defense has a much-needed three-and-out deep in Ducks territory. On second-and-8, Dillon Gabriel took a deep shot to Evan Stewart, but the ball was thrown a bit under the ground and Zeke Berry was there to snap the ball. Gabriel was pressured on third and threw it away.

Alex Orji came in at QB and rushed for 5 yards, and Mullings was tackled for a 2-yard loss on second down. The Wolverines have already had four plays for negative yards today. Davis Warren threw the ball away on third down, leading to a punt.

3:00 PM – The Ducks offense continues to hum along. On the first play of the quarter. Dillon Gabriel hit Terrance Ferguson in stride for a 20-yard gain, and Noah Whittington capped the drive with a 1-yard TD run. Oregon is averaging 6.8 yards per play.

FIRST QUARTER

1:31 – The Ducks are back on the road after starting the drive on their own 25. They took advantage of a rough passing penalty against Josaiah Stewart. Two plays later, on a second-and-10, an HB draw against Jordan James went to 12 yards, giving Oregon a first down at the Michigan 21 as the second quarter began. The Ducks outgained the Wolverines by 102 yards to 34 in the quarter.

4:50 – On the kick, Michigan’s Joe Taylor delivered a hit that shot the ball out of the hands of returner Ryan Pellum. The Wolverines recovered to give them the ball at the Oregon 28. Donovan Edwards set up the team on first and goal with an 18-yard run up the middle. Alex Orji came in at QB on a play and rushed for 4 yards. On third and goal from the 7, Davis Warren rolled to his right, threw across his body and hit Tyler Morris for a touchdown.

6:53 – Another disastrous offense for Michigan, which fell behind for the second straight time on its first possession. Colston Loveland got moving and took a handoff for a two-yard loss. Two plays later, Davis Warren fumbled on third down. He was able to recover, but put down a punt on fourth-and-12.

13:19 – Oregon’s offense split Michigan with fast hitters on the opening drive and capped it off with an incredible catch in the end zone by Evan Stewart with Michigan CB Aamir Hall draped over him. But replays showed the ball hit the ground, but the officials didn’t review it, so the touchdown stood. Dillon Gabriel was 7 for 7 for 47 yards on the drive, quickly getting the ball to his receivers and letting them pick up the yardage.

14:53 – After a 29-yard kick return from Joe Taylor, Michigan will start on its own 32. The Wolverines were immediately put behind the chains when a toss to Donovan Edwards resulted in a 5-yard loss on first down. He picked up 8 yards on a second-down carry, but Davis Warren’s pass to Colston Loveland on a slant on third-and-7 was broken up, leading to a Tommy Doman punt.

The Wolverines (5-3, 3-2) look to build on last week’s performance against Michigan State, especially the final 33 minutes of the 24-17 victory. They scored on four of their last six drives before icing the win with a kneel-down.

Former walk-on Davis Warren is expected to start at quarterback again, but Alex Orji is expected to play an occasional change-of-pace role. He rushed for 64 yards on six attempts against the Spartans and gave Michigan a spark in the run game.

The Wolverines face the Ducks for the first time since 2007, and they are double-digit underdogs for the first time since 2017. Oregon ranks in the top 25 overall in offense and defense and owns ranked wins over Ohio State and Illinois. which dispatched it 38-9 last week.

QB Dillon Gabriel has made a strong case for the Heisman Trophy, leading the nation in completion percentage (76.2) and ranking in the top-10 in passing yards per game (296.4) and touchdowns (18).

Michigan is 3-16-1 all-time against the Associated Press’ No. 1-ranked team.
