Footage leaked by TMZ shows Los Angeles Lakers big man Jaxson Hayes verbally abusing and laying hands on his ex-girlfriend, Sofia Jamora, before he was arrested in July 2021 while a member of the New Orleans Pelicans.

The altercation allegedly occurred after Jamora accused Hayes’ dogs of injuring her smaller dog. The footage shows Hayes pulling her from one room to another as she tells him to stop. Shortly afterwards, loud crashes and banging noises can be heard as Jamora begs Hayes to stop and leave.

Lakers C Jaxson Hayes, as previously reported, was involved in an altercation with his then-girlfriend Sofia Jamora in July 2021.

In the footage, Hayes and Jamora go outside shortly after 2am, with the latter threatening to call the police before saying the following.

“I’m not going to let you hit me anymore,” Jamora is heard saying. “What do I look like, a punching bag?”

Then Hayes shoves Jamora as he walks back into the house, spitting all around her. Jamora repeats that he has to leave.

Based on photos taken after the incident, Jamora appears to have bruises on her arms and legs.

As previously reported, police eventually arrived at the home, and they proceeded to arrest and tase Hayes. Before being arrested, Hayes allegedly pushed an officer. One officer was reportedly injured.

At one point, Hayes said he couldn’t breathe, prompting an excessive force investigation against the Los Angeles Police Department.

Hayes was sentenced to three years of probation, domestic violence classes and 450 hours of community service after pleading guilty to resisting arrest and false imprisonment. At one point he faced twelve charges.

The 24-year-old is in his sixth season in the NBA and spent the first four seasons of his career playing for the Pelicans. With New Orleans, he established himself as a solid backup big man.

He is currently in his second season playing for the Lakers. He has played in each of Los Angeles’ six games so far in the 2024-25 regular season and is averaging 5.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.7 blocks per game.

Hayes was not punished by the NBA following the incident in question, but the leaked footage clearly paints a very disturbing picture. Jamora has an ongoing lawsuit against Hayes.
