Plays Brian Robinson Jr. Today? Full injury update for Commanders RB in Week 9

Brian Robinson Jr. has proven to be a valuable part of the Washington Commanders’ offensive strategy this season. The running back provides a physical presence as part of his excellent partnership with Austin Ekeler. He’s also getting needed carries after becoming disillusioned under previous play-caller Eric Bieniemy.

Robinson’s status for Week 9 was in doubt heading into Washington’s trip to the New York Giants. The former third-round selection has already missed one game all campaign due to a knee injury. Those in power took every possible precaution during the week when a new complication arose.

The Alabama product became a limited participant in practice with a hamstring issue. Robinson was considered questionable for the collision and commanders also released Chris Rodriguez Jr. come forward to further express their concerns.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport initially provided some additional clarification that eased fans’ concerns. The insider revealed that the Commanders plan to play Robinson, although they will see how the player feels this morning before finalizing their decision.

This training for the competition did not go well. Robinson didn’t move too freely and was then seen having lengthy conversations with Quinn and running backs coach Anthony Lynn. The player’s social media post after practices all but confirmed the concerns surrounding his involvement at MetLife Stadium.

Not having Robinson makes life more difficult for the commanders, there is no way around that. It was the right decision to take Rodriguez to the next level – something that only confirms how this new staff covers every base and leaves absolutely nothing to chance.

Commanders fans can expect a backfield approach from the committee without Robinson. Couple this with the fact that Daniels may still be suffering some ill effects from the rib issue, and the new development is something to keep a close eye on.
