Widespread snow is expected in Southern Colorado early in the work week

Tonight’s forecast:
There will be a few more showers near the Colorado-New Mexico border, but most of us will remain dry tonight. Snow showers are possible in the mountains tonight, but will not yet impact I-25. For most of us, temperatures will drop into the 30s tonight. People in their fifties are expected throughout the area on Sunday.

Colorado Springs forecast: Low: 33; High: 56;
Tonight temperatures will dip into the low 30s, but tomorrow we will be back in the 50s. Tomorrow evening we will see some showers moving in on I-25 and this will eventually turn to snow overnight. We will see the snow start at the higher elevations and work its way down to the Springs. Closer to the air base they could see anywhere from 2 to 4 inches. Closer to Fountain it will probably be closer to a trail.

Pueblo forecast: Low: 33; High: 64;
Pueblo will also enter the 30s tonight, but the 60s are expected tomorrow. You will see more of a mix of rain and snow and if any does accumulate it will be closer to a track. Pueblo is at a much lower elevation and that makes it harder for the snow to pass, especially with these temperatures.

Canon City forecast: Low: 37; High: 59;
Canon City will reach the upper 30s tonight. Highs are expected tomorrow and the forecast is similar to Pueblo. You will also see more of a mix of rain and snow and if any does accumulate it will be closer to a track.

Woodland Park forecast: Low: 26; High: 48;
Woodland Park will be chilly tonight with temperatures in the low 20s. Tomorrow’s highs will only reach the upper 40s. Snow showers begin in the evening and last throughout the night. Snow will begin to accumulate Monday morning and this will likely impact road conditions.

Tri-Lakes forecast: Low: 33; High: 51;
Tonight temperatures will drop into the low 30s and tomorrow temperatures will be in the low 50s. The Tri-Lakes area will see rain first and then a transition to snow. We will eventually see the snow working its way south along I-25.

Plains forecast: Low: Above 30/below 40; High: 60’s;
The Plains will be in the upper 30s/40s tonight. A few showers were spotted on radar, but they should leave the state during the night. Tomorrow temperatures will be in the low 60s. There may be some local showers tomorrow evening, but showers will increase during the night and on Monday. La Junta and Springfield have the best chances to see a wintry mix and possibly snow. If anything sticks, it will be closer to a track.

Walsenburg and Trinidad forecast: Low: 36; High: 57/60;
Walsenburg and Trinidad will reach mid 30s tonight and upper 50s/lower 60s expected tomorrow. As for this storm system, we will see some rain showers late Sunday night and early Monday morning. Early Monday morning we will turn into snow. This will likely impact your morning commute, so plan accordingly.

Bergen forecast: Low: Lower 20s; High: Over 40/Under 50;
Winter storm waves are in effect for the Wet Mountains and the Sangres. Anything above 10,000 feet will see several inches of snow and it will be heavy at times. We are currently seeing snow showers (Saturday at 10 p.m.) and this will continue overnight. The heavy snow will start to pick up once this storm system moves here tomorrow. The snow will start earlier and will likely last all day. Mountain passes will be difficult to navigate.

Extended Outlook:
Looking past this storm system, Election Day appears to be sunny and warmer. The roads can still be a bit muddy, so be careful when heading to the polls.

Wednesday will bring even bigger changes, and this storm system could potentially have a bigger impact than the storm system we’ll see on Monday. It appears this system is stalling across the state, which could lead to higher snow totals. This is still being ironed out and things may change before we reach that point.
