Dallas Cowboys acquire former second-round pick in trade with Carolina Panthers

The Dallas Cowboys have acquired wide receiver Jonathan Mingo and a 2025 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round pick, a source has confirmed. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero was the first to report.

Mingo, a second-round pick (No. 39 overall) in 2023, has 55 receptions for 539 yards and no touchdowns in 24 career games. Due to the inconsistency at quarterback, Mingo never found his groove in Carolina. To make things even more difficult for the Ole Miss product, the Panthers brought in rookie wide receiver Xavier Legette, who has taken advantage of many of Mingo’s opportunities from a year ago.

At 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, Mingo adds physicality to a Cowboys receiving corps that has been pushed around by opposing secondary’s this season, putting the Cowboys near the top of the list in passing attempts on the season.

During his weekly radio show on Tuesday morning, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said Mingo was someone the Cowboys liked during the draft process. He also indicated that the Cowboys are “buyers and not sellers” ahead of this afternoon’s NFL trade deadline.
