“An exhausted and apparently despondent Donald Trump ends his campaign with long speeches to a dwindling crowd, threatening violence, baseless accusations of cheating, raising the possibility of banning vaccines and complaining about Saturday evening livethe host began, joking that the former president is upset about Meyers’ departure SNL a decade ago. “Is it because he misses me on ‘(Weekend) Update’? Oh, if not, then f— him!”

Harris appeared briefly in Saturday’s episode SNL in the cold open skit, in which Maya Rudolph’s version of Harris looked in the mirror to spruce herself up before election night and saw the real vice president on the other side.

The Democratic nominee’s 90-second appearance on the show drew criticism from conservatives, including Trump-appointed FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr, who claimed the cameo was “a clear and blatant attempt to undermine the FCC’s Equal Time rule ” – the rule that ensures that “No legally qualified candidate for office is unfairly granted less access to the airwaves – other than bona fide news exemptions – than his opponent.”

To give the Trump campaign as much time as Harris’ SNL During his appearance, NBC aired a 90-second message from the former president in which he claimed a Harris presidency would cause a “depression” and implored viewers to “go vote.”

Elsewhere in the “Closer Look” segment, Meyers mocked Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (R) for his comments about SNL. “Yesterday Kamala Harris was apparently on a plane heading to Michigan, they called her: ‘Do you want to come?’ Saturday evening live?’ And then I made a U-turn and went to… Saturday evening live — by the way, against the law,” Rubio said in a clip of a meeting that aired during the Late evening segment. “But my only hope was, I hope she continued to laugh Saturday evening live in front of millions of people heard her laugh for a few minutes, because that’s probably worth 2-3 million votes.”

Meyers was stunned by Rubio’s statements. “Marco Rubio, do you think it works like this?” he asked. “Lorne calls a presidential candidate a few hours before the show and they make their plane do a U-turn? That, I think, is a violation of the law – aviation law.”

Later in the segment, Meyers reiterated, “This is the way they are choosing to end their campaign: unhinged accusations of cheating, whining about comedy shows, floating plans to ban vaccines, and threatening reprisals against enemies, outlaw polls and punish statements they make. don’t like.”
