Early voting totals for all of Kentucky and counties near Cincinnati

It’s almost Election Day, but many in Kentucky decided to vote in early 2024, with more than 650,000 people from across the Commonwealth heading to the polls to cast their ballots early.

On Thursday, the first day of widespread early voting, more than 225,000 Kentuckians voted early, according to Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams, and by the end of Friday the numbers had doubled. Here’s what we know about early voting in the Commonwealth.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and other prominent Kentucky Democrats encouraged people to vote at Saturday’s Get out The Vote Rally in Louisville.

According to a report from Adams on X, 455,640 Kentuckians voted early Thursday and Friday. Friday’s attendance (229,944) was slightly higher than Thursday’s total (225,696).

In previous years, early voting numbers for the first day were significantly lower compared to Thursday’s numbers, with about 57,000 in 2020 and about 82,000 in 2022, Adams said.

The numbers were lower on Saturday, with just under 201,000 votes. Adams stated in the post that more than 790,000 votes were cast across all voting types in the 2024 election.

How many voted in Boone, Campbell and Kenton counties, which are closest to Cincinnati?

Here are the early vote totals for the three Kentucky counties closest to Cincinnati – Boone, Campbell and Kenton – according to information provided by county officials:

Boone County

  • Total total: 19,257
  • 3 days of no-excuse in-person absentee voting: 17,672
  • 6-day excused personal absentee ballot: 1,585
  • Mail-in: 3,385 (70% return rate)

Campbell County

  • Total total: 13,363
  • 3 days of no-excuse in-person absentee voting: 12,581
  • 6-day excused personal absentee ballot: 782
  • Mail-in: 2,375 (86% return rate)

Kenton County

  • Total total: 31,256
  • 3 days of no-excuse in-person absentee voting: 30,411
  • 6-day excused personal absentee ballot: 845
  • Mail-in: 4,761 (79% return rate)

More Republican early voters than Democrats in Kentucky

Adams stated in a post that of the more than 656,000 Kentuckians who voted early, 52.6% were registered Republicans, compared to 40.3% registered Democrats and 7.1% registered Independents.

However, these numbers do not necessarily mean that Kamala Harris or Donald Trump received the corresponding number of votes in the presidential race.
