Sixers’ Tyrese Maxey leaves the Clippers game with right hamstring tightness

What else?

All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey left the Sixers’ game against the LA Clippers on Wednesday night with what the team is calling right hamstring soreness.

Maxey was seen on the broadcast as he gingerly left the field after the Sixers’ disastrous third quarter ended. He walked back to the locker room and shortly afterwards it was announced that he would not return to the match.

The Sixers would go on to lose 110-98 to the Clippers, dropping them to 1-6 on the season. Head coach Nick Nurse called Maxey’s exit a “precautionary measure” after the game, but noted he will be checked out again tomorrow.

As far as things the Sixers definitely didn’t need, a Maxey injury was probably No. 1 on the list. The 24-year-old hasn’t missed a game so far this season and is averaging over 30 points per night.

The Sixers are already without Joel Embiid, who missed the first six games of the season while managing his left knee and began serving a three-game suspension Wednesday night after a physical altercation with Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Marcus Hayes.

Paul George is also still getting used to his new team after missing the first five games due to a left knee bruise. He looked better than in his season debut against the Phoenix Suns on Monday, finishing with 18 points (7-for-9), seven rebounds, three steals, two assists and a block in 23 minutes in his return to LA

The Sixers conclude their three-game West Coast trip against the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday before returning home to take on the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday. Embiid is expected to make his season debut on Tuesday against the New York Knicks.
