Garth Brooks’ attorneys have filed a motion that could change the direction of the sexual assault case against him.

Jane Roe (not her real name) filed her case on October 3 in California. Her lawsuit alleges that Brooks raped and sexually assaulted her on several occasions in 2019.

She worked for the country star and his wife Trisha Yearwood prior to and during the time frame she said occurred, adding that her financial problems made her an easy target for Brooks.

AND now reports that Brooks’ attorneys have filed a motion to move the lawsuit to federal court, not California Superior Court. A legal expert speaking to the famous news channel suggests that this move will increase the chances of dismissal and/or speed up the process.

Federal court would be a third arena for potential litigation on this issue. Separate, but related to the California lawsuit, is Brooks’ September motion in Mississippi to proceed under pseudonyms. That application became controversial when Jane Roe used Brooks’ name in her application. He responded by using her real name in updates to the Mississippi documents. Taste of Country has chosen not to use its legal name at this time.

AND points out that it is possible to go to federal court because the two parties live in different states and the amount sought by Jane Roe exceeds a certain threshold. With the election this week, the news has in some ways gone under the radar.

So did Brooks’ latest Inside Studio G episode (November 4) where he was particularly feisty at first.

“It’s all about the anthology and it’s all about loving each other, so d–kheads, go home,” he says. “If you want to be an asshole, go somewhere else, there are plenty of places.”
