Nebraska’s Outside Hitters shine in a sweep over Oregon

Nebraska 3 vs. Oregon 0 – 25-12, 26-24, 25-18

Oregon presented the Huskers with some new challenges, forcing Nebraska to win in a slightly different way than usual. The Duck block was all over Andi Jackson, Rebekah Allick and Merritt Beason. Oregon held this trio to a .043 hitting percentage. This left Harper Murray and Taylor Landfair with most of the attacking work.

Murray earned 14 kills and Landfair 13. Both players hit over .400. They found the floor and their kills by swinging away and sprinkling the occasional roll shot. Murray’s vision was very good tonight; she saw what the defense gave her.

When there was a triple block in front of her, she sent the ball where the left blocker just came from. As the Duckblocker’s hands left the smallest space between them and the net, she tilted along the front of it.

Bergen Reilly was also offensive. She had three kills after six attempts. She frustrated Oregon’s defense and forced them to think about her as she sat in the front row. Reilly also played a ton of defense, finishing with nine digs. Lexi Rogriguez had fourteen digs, Murray ten and Beason nine.

Olivia Mauch has wreaked havoc on the service line. She had two aces and seemingly total control over where she placed each serve. She is a player to continue to watch as she visually improves and contributes to this team.

Next, Nebraska heads to Seattle, WA to take on the Huskies of Washington. That game is Saturday, November 9 at 9:30 PM CT on BTN. Washington scored an upset against No. 14 Minnesota tonight. The Huskies won in four sets.
