ESPN’s College GameDay will take place in Berkeley for the first time on Saturday.

The pregame show will take place on campus before Cal hosts Miami on Saturday

ESPN’s College GameDay Built by The Home Depot pregame show will take place Oct. 5 in Berkeley before the California football team hosts Miami at California Memorial Stadium. It will be the first-ever appearance of College Gameday in Berkeley.

The Bears and Hurricanes start Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The match will be broadcast by ESPN.


College GameDay, ESPN’s wildly popular pregame show, travels to a different college campus or game site each week of the season. It airs on ESPN and ESPNU from 6am to 9am PT.


Saturday’s show in Berkeley will be performed on Memorial Glade in the center of campus. Fans interested in attending in person are encouraged to arrive early.

“We are thrilled that ESPN’s College GameDay is coming to the Berkeley campus this week,” said UC Berkeley Chancellor Rich Lyons. “A College Football Saturday brings our community together, and we welcome the great opportunity ESPN’s College GameDay provides to showcase what Berkeley is all about.”


Cal (3-1, 0-1 ACC) comes into the game coming off the first bye week of the season following a 14-9 loss to Florida State on Sept. 21 in the program’s first conference game as a member of the ACC. Miami (5-0, 1-0 ACC) was ranked No. 7 in the most recent Associated Press top 25 and is coming off a 38-34 victory over Virginia Tech at Hard Rock Stadium on Friday.


“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome ESPN’s College GameDay to Cal,” said Cal athletics director Jim Knowlton. “It is a great reward for everyone involved with our football program, and I know our Cal family will embrace this incredible opportunity to showcase our student-athletes, the university and the city of Berkeley on the national stage.”

Cal has had three previous appearances in games that spawned College GameDay, going 1-2 in those games.

September 29, 2007 – #6 Cal at #11 Oregon (31-24 W)
October 10, 2015 – #23 Cal at #5 Utah (30-24 L)
