Sparks High School lockdown lifted after previous incident on campus | Local news

Sparks High School was temporarily on lockdown due to an incident on campus.

The Washoe County School District announced the alert on its webpage Wednesday just before 12:45 p.m.

The WCSD announced it was disbanding just after 1:15 p.m

WCSD sent the following message to Sparks High School families:

Good afternoon, Sparks High School families—

This is a message on behalf of Principal Cynthia Waddell, to share important information with you:

Today there was a student nuisance near our campus. We decided to restrict students’ movement on campus as school police and staff members were monitoring student behavior. A student has been safely removed from our campus.

The school was placed on lockdown and we are working closely with school police as officers continue their investigation.

We hope that this prompt communication of the facts will help alleviate unnecessary rumors that could cause fear and anxiety for our students, families, staff and community members.
