Alan Shearer's Premier League predictions

Shearer looks ahead to another big weekend of action (Getty/Metro.co.uk)

Another round of Premier League action before the final international break of the year looms, with Chelsea and Arsenal taking center stage on Sunday afternoon.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, meanwhile, will look to sign off in style as Manchester United’s interim manager against Leicester City on Sunday, ahead of the arrival of Ruben Amorim next week.

After a humbling weekend in Europe, Manchester City will be looking to avoid a fourth straight defeat to Brighton, while Liverpool can consolidate their grip on top spot by welcoming Aston Villa to Anfield on Saturday evening.

As always, Betfair Ambassador Alan Shearer has previewed all the weekend’s Premier League action for Metro…

Brentford vs Bournemouth

I watched Brentford on Monday night and they couldn’t get out of their half for most of the game.

Brentford are good at home, they attack and score a lot of goals.

Bournemouth are also flying. They could have scored three or four against Man City and their latest results show why the Premier League is the best in the world.

My prediction is a tie in this one.

Crystal Palace vs Fulham

Crystal Palace achieved an excellent result at home against Spurs last week and may have turned the corner.

However, Fulham are difficult to predict and it looked like they would never score against Brentford on Monday night, but then the manager made the changes and Harry Wilson came on.

The two goals he scored were incredible. I felt that if they scored an early goal in extra time, as football goes, they would have enough time to go on and win, and that’s exactly what they did.

I’m going for a draw here.

West Ham vs Everton

This is a huge game for Julen Lopetegui. If West Ham lose, the noise around him and the club will be enormous.

Everton had a poor result against Southampton last week and they’re out of here again, so I’m not convinced they can turn up and win.

I’m going for a win at West Ham because it simply has to be done.

Wolves vs Southampton

This is huge for both clubs.

Southampton eventually got the win against Everton, and you could see and feel the relief. You could see the difference in Russell Martin, and they will hope to use that win as momentum going forward.

Still, I’m going for it Wolves get their first win of the season Because if they don’t, Gary O’Neil, like Lopetegui and West Ham, will also be under enormous pressure. We’ve said the playlist has been unkind to them, but this is a real opportunity to step off the board.

Brighton vs Man City

It’s a tough game for Man City after their third straight defeat at Sporting this week.

Pep has already said that they are struggling with injuries, but I think what we have learned over the years is that if things might not go well for Man City, there is no need to panic because they often come back. and find the right answers.

However, it will be a very difficult match because we know how Brighton play and they caused Liverpool a lot of problems last week, but I do think City have enough to go to Brighton and win the game, just.

Liverpool vs Aston Villa

Both teams were of course in action in the Champions League earlier this week, but Liverpool has an extra day of rest and was at home.

It’s difficult for any team to play in the Champions League and then perform with the same energy at the weekend, and Villa get here after an away defeat in Bruges.

Liverpool is back home here, and I think they have enough to beat Aston Villa to stay top of the table going into the international break.

Man United vs Leicester

Manchester United will have too much for Leicester here. I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends the same way as the Carabao Cup match because I would like them to score a few goals again given the way they play and how open Leicester are.

Ruben Amorim won’t be here yet, but I think there will be an extra buzz in the air at Old Trafford after Sporting’s win over Man City.

Home win.

Nottingham Forest v Newcastle

A trip to the City Ground is a tough game for Newcastle at the moment.

Chris Wood is in the form of his life, scoring again last week and Forest’s two centre-backs are both impressive too; Murillo and Milenkovic formed a real partnership there and they recorded a very good win against West Ham.

Newcastle were brilliant against Arsenal and were back to their normal selves and if they were back at home I would be tempted to say Newcastle will win but I’ll go for a draw on the Stadsplein.

Spurs vs Ipswich

Ipswich haven’t convinced me yet and I think they will have a tough time at Tottenham this weekend, with Spurs winning two big games at home last week. If they manage to maintain some consistency, Ange and Spurs will have a fantastic season.

I’d expect Tottenham to score a goal or two here with the number of chances they’re creating, and it doesn’t look like Ipswich will be able to keep them at bay. Kalvin Phillips has also been suspendedso another home win.

Chelsea vs Arsenal

Chelsea go into their match against Arsenal above the Gunners after ten games in the Premier League, and while Arsenal have stumbled of late, it shows just how well Enzo Maresca has done at Chelsea, especially when you factor in the chaotic nature at the club .

The midfield is probably where this game with Arsenal will be won and lost. Rice and Partey against Caicedo and Lavia is a good battle because you are talking about good midfielders who like to handle the ball.

The match against Chelsea is a ‘must not get beat game’ for Arsenal. I don’t care who you are, the potential to be ten points behind Liverpool is high at this level, and they can’t afford many more defeats.

There will be fireworks and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a red card or two, but I’m going for it a draw on Sunday.
