Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence is dealing with a significant AC joint sprain in the left shoulder and will not play against Vikings

Surgery is possible for Lawrence, sources say, although the current plan includes rest and rehabilitation. While the team has called him day in and day out, week after week is probably a more accurate description. Regardless of whether Lawrence plays moving forward, the injury is expected to limit him in the coming weeks.

Some players with similar injuries end up needing surgery. Anthony Richardson is an example from last year, but that was to repair his throwing shoulder. Other players play with it their entire careers without any problems, simply by managing it. But it may not heal completely on its own.

And now Jones is joining the fold.

Jones was traded from New England last offseason and is said to love Jacksonville, the system and the coaches. He has spent the past six months rebuilding his confidence after a difficult time with the Patriots. He worked overtime at Texas this summer, pitching with his QB coach Joe Dickinson in an attempt to find his old self.

Jones now has a chance to make everything count.

“I have a lot of confidence (in Jones),” Pederson said Friday. “He’s someone who prepares extremely hard and extremely well. He’s a smart kid. Look at some of the things from preseason and what he did then, in terms of preparing and everything and how he played. He’ll be fine. ” He’ll be excited. Home game, home crowd, home fans, are people, so to speak.”
