OKC Thunder center and forward Chet Holmgren left the first quarter of a home game against Golden State on Sunday with an apparent leg injury.

Holmgren suffered the injury while contesting a shot with 6:50 left in the first quarter. He eventually needed help off the field because he could not walk on his right leg.

Holmgren entered Sunday’s game averaging 18.2 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks. He shot 51.9% from the floor and 40% from deep.

After being selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Holmgren missed the entire 2022-2023 season due to a Lisfranc injury in his right foot. He rebounded the following season by playing all 92 OKC games, including the playoffs, and finishing second in the Rookie of the Year voting with averages of 16.5 points and 7.9 rebounds.

OKC was already thin at center prior to Holmgren’s injury on Sunday. The team is also without Isaiah Hartenstein (left hand fracture), Jaylin Williams (right hamstring strain) and Kenrich Williams (right knee surgery).
