Newly elected US President Donald Trump has made an offer to the Republican representative Elise Stefanik for the US position ambassador to the United Nationsreports CNN.
“President-elect Trump will soon begin making decisions on who will serve in his second administration. Those decisions will be announced when they are made,” Karoline Leavitt, a spokeswoman for the Trump-Vance team, told Reuters.
Trump announced on Saturday that neither Nikki Haley nor the former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo would be invited to join his government.
During Trump’s previous term, Haley served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Despite her sharp criticism during the party’s primaries when she competed against him, she later supported Trump’s presidential bid.
Trump is currently meeting with potential gubernatorial candidates ahead of his Jan. 20 inauguration.
