Krispy Kreme is giving away free donuts for World Kindness Day

Forget about being kind this week.

Krispy Kreme just announced that the first 500 guests to visit a participating store nationwide on World Kindness Day, November 13, can get a free dozen Original Glazed donuts – no purchase necessary. If you do a little napkin math, that means the Double-K will give out about 6,000 free donuts per store.

This free treat is available in Krispy Kreme stores and drive-thrus at every participating U.S. location.

“World Kindness Day reminds us that we can all have a positive impact on people’s lives, even through small gestures like sharing a sweet treat,” said Dave Skena, Global Chief Brand Officer of Krispy Kreme, in a press release. “We hope that every dozen Original Glazed donuts we give away will enable and inspire dozens of small acts of kindness.”

Some of Krispy Kreme’s international locations – the company operates in 40 countries – have also planned World Kindness Day promotions. The donut chain is known for celebrating other thoughtful holidays: Earlier this year, it celebrated Random Acts of Kindness Day (February 17) by giving out free Original Glazed donuts.

According to UNESCO, World Kindness Day was first established in 1998 by the international NGO World Kindness Movement, which aims to promote goodwill around the world.

With that in mind, if you’re one of the lucky ones to score a dozen free donuts this Wednesday, maybe give away one, two, or eleven to brighten someone’s day.
